First Great Salt Lake Road Show announced in Brigham City

The Office of the Great Salt Lake Commissioner and the Great Salt Lake Advisory Council invite the public to an open forum where they can voice their concerns, ideas and questions about the Great Salt Lake. The Commissioner’s office plans to hold open forums in various parts of the state, with the first being held in Brigham City.

Utah leaders Brian Steed, Tim Davis and Tim Hawkes will provide an update on how the lake is doing and what actions are being taken, followed by open comments. We invite community members to join and help shape solutions for preserving this vital natural resource.

We’ve had two years of above-average snowpack, which has dramatically improved our water supply. Reservoirs are at about 93% of capacity, which is a big improvement over last year when they were 75% full. The Great Salt Lake has come up about 6.5’ from its historic low, but it’s still several feet below a healthy range. Our priority is to conserve, dedicate and deliver water to the lake. It is an endeavor that requires effort from everyone in the state. We are looking forward to hearing from the public and working together.
